With a long and distinguished history behind it, this popular brass band, based in the heart of the city of Leeds, sustains a high profile in the North of England. The band aquired its present name in 1983 when Yorkshire Post Newspapers took over its sponsorship.

The band gives over thirty concerts each year at a wide range of venues including the Lord Mayor's Carol Concerts, the Lord Mayors Parade, many charity concerts and numerous events on behalf of Leeds Leisure Services. In recent months it has worked with leading conductors and performers including Phillip McCann, James Shepard, Roy Newsome and David Howarth.
